The Austin Police Retirement System ("System") is pleased to announce the launch of our new pension administration software and the upcoming MemberDirect portal, which will greatly enhance service delivery and improve overall user experience. This advanced system is designed to optimize the efficiency and accuracy of pension management, while the MemberDirect portal will provide members with convenient access to their payment information, allow updates to contact details and beneficiary designations, and offer additional self-service features.
The upcoming Member Portal is not operational today nor will it be on January 1st. It will be phased in over approximately the first two quarters of 2025. Further communication will be provided about its availability and how members can attain access and utilize the new portal. Stay tuned for further information.
As part of this transition, we would like to inform retirees of an important change. Effective January 1, 2025, APRS will discontinue the use of the Northern Trust Benefit Payment Passport system for processing updates related to retiree addresses, banking information, and tax withholding preferences. As a reminder, your health insurance premiums for the year will be included in your December pay stub. Additionally, the 1099-R form will be mailed to your mailing address on January 31st.
Although these updates will be available in the future for retirees through the MemberDirect portal, retirees will need to contact APRS directly to make any changes during the transition period. To assist with this transition, APRS has established a dedicated webpage offering detailed information about the MemberDirect portal and instructions for managing updates during this phase. No further steps are necessary for members at this time.
