Understanding the Actuarial Report: Key Insights and Implications

9/6/2024

Actuarial reports are fundamental to financial planning and risk management, providing critical insights for decisions involving long-term financial commitments. Prepared by actuaries—specialists in mathematics, statistics, and financial theory—an actuarial report is a statement that assesses the current and future financial condition of the System. The primary purpose of the annual APRS Actuarial Valuation reports is to determine the actuarially determined contribution (ADC) rates for the City and members, describe the current financial condition of APRS, analyze changes in the condition of APRS, and provide various summaries of the data.
