Pension Payment Variances

The January 2018 pension payments and the upcoming February pension payments may vary from the December 2017 payments. The retiree insurance deduction amounts increased for some of the health insurance plans offered by the City of Austin which may have caused some January pension payments to decrease. For questions regarding the insurance premiums, please contact the City Benefits department at (512) 974-3284. In February, the amount of federal tax withheld (if any) may change, because the withholding tables are changing. Unless you file a new election with us, your prior choice as to whether to have withholding, and on what basis, will remain in effect. You may change your election by using a Form W-4P and sending to the APRS office. There is no need to complete the form unless you wish to change the election you have already made. If you make a change, it will be put into effect for the next month end payment, provided we receive the form by the 15th of the month. Note: The IRS has not released the 2018 Form W-4P at this time, your election can be made on the 2017 form that is on our website under Member Resources and Forms. The 2018 From will be substituted on the website once available.
