Active Trustee Position Vacancy

The Austin Police Retirement System has received a resignation notice from a current Active Police Trustee on the Board. Pursuant to the Act governing the Austin Police Retirement System (Article 6243n-1, V.T.C.S., as amended effective September 1, 2013), this vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the term by a police officer member appointed by the remaining members of the police retirement Board of Trustees. This term will expire December 2015. Any active police member of the System in good standing may apply; however, they must submit a Statement of Interest to serve on the Board. That Statement of Interest must include the information below, and be received by the Austin Police Retirement System no later than 5 p.m. on May 19, 2014. 1. Name: 2. A brief personal statement of reason for wanting to serve on the Board. Interested applicants may, but are not required to, include a photo. The Statement of Interest should be emailed or delivered to the Austin Police Retirement System in care of the Chief Executive Officer, Sampson K. Jordan, at sjordan@ausprs.org., faxed to 512-416-7138, mailed or hand delivered to 2520 S. IH-35, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78704. The Board has the statutory right to appoint the person it deems most qualified to fill the position. Accordingly, the Board may reject any applicant and re-open the application process if it determines that doing so is in the best interest of the System.
